 A derailment incident involving a traditional scotch block highlighted risks within existing depot procedures. Equipment visibility, process consistency and control of safety systems required improvement to reduce operational risk. 

Kildens worked collaboratively with depot management and industry partners to understand operational requirements and deliver practical safety improvements.

Kildens designed and delivered 12 bespoke safety shadow boards tailored to the depot’s requirements.

Each board formed part of a complete safe system of work, incorporating:

• Safety banners and warning rings
   
• Safety targets
   
• Compressible Type 5 Scotch Blocks
